Our First Platform Lift Install: Getting Her Out for Summer

Our First Platform Lift Install: Getting Her Out for Summer

We've just completed our first-ever platform lift installation, and it's a milestone worth celebrating for two reasons. Not only did it change someone's daily life, but it also marked the start of our new partnership with Stepless, bringing their platform lift range into our accessibility solutions.

The Situation

Our customer, who lives in a local authority home, uses a powered wheelchair. Until now, she had no safe way to get in or out of her own house.

A ramp seemed like the obvious answer — until we looked at the step. The height difference was too great for a ramp to work without taking over the whole front of the property. What she needed was a solution that could lift her safely over that step without swallowing up outdoor space.

Why a Platform Lift

That's where the LP5+ platform lift came in. Built for exactly this kind of scenario, it can lift up to 830mm when surface-mounted — well beyond what a ramp could achieve in the same footprint. With a 360kg lifting capacity, a tall, transparent side panel for visibility and safety, and a battery backup that keeps it working even if the power goes out, it was the right fit for both the building and the person using it.

Racing the Clock

We had six weeks to get this done. Our customer wanted to get outside and enjoy the summer, so speed mattered as much as safety. Our installers, Brandon and Harvey, worked closely with our construction partners on the groundwork, while Adam and Kevin from Stepless provided technical support throughout the installation.

Six weeks later, she has safe, independent access to and from her home. in time to make the most of summer outdoors.

A New Partnership

This install is also our first project since partnering with Stepless. We're excited about what this partnership means for our customers: more options, more flexibility, and access to lift solutions built for exactly the kind of situations where a ramp simply won't do.

If you're supporting someone who needs step-free access but a ramp isn't practical, get in touch with our team to talk through whether a platform lift could be the answer.
