Introducing Sentrix: Supporting Safer, More Responsive Care Through Digital Innovation

At Healthcare Matters, we have always believed that great care starts with understanding real world challenges faced by care teams, local authorities, providers, individuals and families every day.
For more than 20 years, we have worked closely with health and social care services across Wales and the North West, helping to improve safety, independence and quality of life through practical, person-centred solutions. Today, we are proud to share the next step in that journey with the launch of Sentrix, our dedicated digital care venture focused on proactive monitoring and smarter care support.
Why We Created Sentrix
Health and social care services continue to face increasing pressures. Rising demand, workforce shortages and stretched resources mean care teams are being asked to do more than ever before, often with less time and fewer people.
Sentrix was developed in response to these challenges.
Drawing on our frontline experience and understanding of care environments, we began exploring how technology could support safer, more responsive care while still protecting dignity, independence and human connection.
What started as an internal conversation around innovation and future service delivery quickly evolved into a structured digital care project with the potential to support providers across Wales and beyond.
What is Sentrix?
Sentrix is a smart-monitoring solution designed to support proactive, preventative and person-centred care.
Using discreet radar-based sensors installed within care environments, the system helps identify potential risks earlier, such as falls, unusual movement patterns, or changes in routine, allowing care teams to respond quickly and appropriately.
Importantly, Sentrix has been designed with privacy and dignity at its core.
The system does not use cameras or microphones. Instead, ceiling-mounted sensors monitor movement patterns and activity within a room without capturing visual or audio recordings. This allows care teams to gain valuable insight while ensuring individuals continue to feel safe, respected and comfortable in their own environment.
Information is displayed through a secure digital dashboard and mobile app, enabling care staff to monitor multiple rooms, receive alerts and prioritise support where it’s needed most.
Supporting Care Teams, Not Replacing Them
Technology should never replace compassionate care, it should strengthen it.
Sentrix has been developed to support carers and care teams by helping them focus their time where it matters most. The system is designed to fit naturally into existing workflows, reducing unnecessary operational burden rather than adding to it.
By helping identify risks earlier and providing greater visibility across care settings, Sentrix has the potential to:
- Improve resident safety and reassurance
- Support greater independence
- Reduce avoidable incidents and unwitnessed falls
- Help care teams prioritise response times
- Ease pressures on stretched services
- Support individuals to remain safely at home for longer
Early feedback from care environments has already shown the positive impact proactive monitoring can have on both staff confidence and peace of mind for families.
Accelerating Innovation Through the Health+ Programme
The development of Sentrix has been supported through the Health+ Programme delivered by M-SParc and supported by Life Sciences Hub Wales.
The programme provided valuable guidance, insight and connections that helped us shape Sentrix into a scalable digital care solution ready for real-world testing and deployment.
Through collaboration with innovation partners, local authorities, care providers and universities, we’ve been able to refine the system, better understand frontline needs and strengthen our long-term vision for digital care delivery.
What’s Next for Sentrix?
Sentrix is now progressing into live testing across care settings in North Wales, with pilot projects helping to further refine the technology and service model in real-world environments.
Alongside this, we continue to work with strategic partners, care providers and universities to evaluate outcomes, strengthen evidence and support future growth.
Our ambition is clear: to develop a scalable Welsh innovation that helps improve safety, independence and responsiveness across health and social care.
This is an exciting new chapter not only for Healthcare Matters, but for the future of digital care support across Wales.
With live testing now underway across care settings in North Wales, we are excited to continue developing Sentrix alongside frontline teams and partners who share our vision for smarter, more proactive care support.
