A Stand Aid is designed to allow an individual to be transferred in a standing position with the aid of a sling. Stand Aids are not suitable for all individuals. A person must have a degree of core stability and strength in their legs to be transferred in this manner. A Stand Aid can assist with rehabilitation, as each transfer is standing practice. Stand Aids can also be used during therapy as a standing and / or walking aid. Some individuals choose to have both mobile full hoist and a mobile standing hoist for therapeutic reasons.

Healthcare Matters have ventured into the blogosphere to share information, help and advice on subjects such as pressure care treatment and prevention, pressure care products, moving and handling procedures and equipment, specialist seating and daily living aids.

The blog, which can be found at http://healthcaremattersblog.blogspot.com/, will be updated regularly and will also include features on more practical issues, such as VAT exemption and who qualifies, what equipment should be LOLER and PAT tested and how to check that a sling is still safe for use.

We also hope to look at possible funding avenues for specialist equipment and how to access them, provide links to the best healthcare resources on the web and give step-by-step instructions on how to solve the most common healthcare equipment products.

We also want to hear your views on our blog, so if you have any feedback or have something you would like us to write about, let us know by leaving a comment directly on our blog, email us on info@healthcare-matters.com or use the online form here.
